Center for Research and Development of IoT (CREDIT)

The establishment of CREDIT is a significant milestone that supports the objectives of the Malaysia National IoT Strategic Roadmap initiative. Towards this, the Center for REseach and Development of IoT (CREDIT) is expected:
  • To bridge the gap between students learning in the classroom with the exposure on industry-relevant skills and competencies via workshops, projects and lectures by industry experts.
  • To provide advanced knowledge and skills in IoT area.
  • To support the fundamental research, applied research and collaborative research in industry relevance areas.​
CREDIT envisions to be a strategic center at APU for Research & Collaboration in the IoT sector, establishes knowledge workers pipeline for continuous supply to IoT industry.
To build industry capable talent for IoT market and catalyse effort to support the Research and Development by providing IoT industry linked platform and multi-technology stack laboratory facilities through:

1.    Research & Development

  • Collaborative research between academia and industry.
  • Application and execution of research grants from the Government and industrial partners.
  • Research project from the industry that feed in as FYP topic or postgraduate research topic.
2.    Talent Development
  • Project based learning through internship programme.
  • Guest talks and technical workshop by industry experts.
  • Train the trainer programme to develop in-house skills pertaining to IoT.
3.    Curriculum Development
  • Industrial certification program.
  • Bachelor and master degree related to IoT technology.
  • Curriculum development based on IoT industry platform.
  • IoT Innovation Lab that supports the research & development of IoT products 
CREDIT will be chaired and run with 8 academic members and supported by a number of industrial representatives. The expertise and experience will cover areas of Cloud Computing, Ubiquitous Computing, Embedded Technology and Wireless Network Technology.

Smart Campus focus
APU is a university with the student community of more than 11,000 students from more than 110 countries located in Technology Park Malaysia (TPM). By utilizing this Smart Campus initiative, students can be engaged and involved in various IoT-based applications. Under this center of excellence, research projects, trainings, and the student FYPs should revolve around this Smart Campus concept. It will help us in benchmarking our new building as an "IoT-based smart campus" by showing the utilizing of facilities, monitoring of assets, consumption of resources, etc in a smarter way.​
