APIIT & UCTI donates to fund for China and Myanmar tragedy victims

Students and staff of UCTI (Asia Pacific University College of Technology & Innovation), APIIT (Asia Pacific Institute of Information Technology) and the APIIT Smart School (comprising primary and secondary students) chipped in towards a fund for victims of the recent cyclone tragedy in Myanmar and the earthquake tragedy in China.

The fund represents the caring attitude and corporate social responsibility of students, parents, staff and the organisation. More importantly it will provide comfort and support for those affected by the crises in Myanmar and China.

To begin this journey of care, a cheque for RM30,000 was presented by student representatives to MERCY Malaysia’s General Manager, Mona Hanim. The fund will be used towards care, aid and support for various relief activities in Myanmar and China. Mona Hanim expressed gratitude and commended all involved for their humanitarian values in this noble effort.

The event was attended by representatives from MERCY Malaysia and UCTI/APIIT, the First Secretary and Head of Cultural Office of the China Embassy, Dr Parmjit Singh, Executive Director, UCTI, as well as student representatives from UCTI/APIIT and the APIIT Smart School. Two students from China and Myanmar briefed the audience and presented slides and photos of the disasters while APIIT Smart School students presented specially made tokens and messages of love and care for the victims of the disasters.
