Industry Exposure Experience

On Monday, 26th February 2018, APU Careers Centre brought 28 students to the Ministry of International Trade and Industry (MITI) Career Fair 2018 at Menara MATRADE, KL. It was part of APU Careers Centre’s initiatives to expose our students towards the job opportunities available in the market.

During the fair, the final year students were exposed to various industry leaders who were organizing open interviews and on the spot hiring. APU Careers Centre encourages participation of such career fairs (both internal and external) as most companies are looking to hire fresh graduates. This is in line with our mission, where APU continues to pride itself as an institution that produces professional graduates and such career fairs seek to employ our students.

During this fair, several credible roles in Engineering, Technical Supervisor roles, machinist and other science related roles were seen and our students have shown their utmost interest in these job opportunities available. With the high participation rate from our final year students, we are glad to see that our students ready for employment prior to their graduation.

A Step Into A Promising Future Career - Largest APU Mega Career Fair 2017 in History

In order to provide students with a platform to discover their future career pathways, the APU Careers Centre recently organized the APU Mega Career Fair 2017 at APU @ New Campus.

The career expo saw participation from more than 80 companies, including large local and multinational businesses such as Microsoft, HILTI, KPMG, Maybank and Volkswagen. Students from the Computing & Technology, Business & Finance, Engineering, Media & Design disciplines attended the expo to search for full-time employment and internship opportunities.

Besides a 6-hour expo, the APU Mega Career Fair 2017 also featured a series of pocket talks conducted by industry speakers on interesting topics, such as “Career Opportunities As A Financial Planner” by the Financial Planning Association of Malaysia (FPAM), “Personal Branding, Your Advantage to Getting & Keeping That Job” by Jobstreet Malaysia and more. All pocket talks received tremendous responses from our students, in which they took the opportunity to gain valuable insights that enable them to gain a better advantage while searching for jobs later on.

The APU Career Fairs are part of the regular activities organized by APU Careers Centre annually. This year, it is bigger and better, especially when it is held at the new Courtyard of the APU’s New Campus. We are delighted to see our students’ active participation in this event, and we are even prouder when we see them successfully performed well and secured a job with the companies who were here! Next year, we look forward to a bigger career fair; that exposes students to more opportunities in the current job market.
