We are pleased to share that our students were able to gain the professional working environment and hands-on industrial experiences through the industrial visit to IRIS Corporation Berhad that was organized by the APU School of Computing & Technology.

Under the guidance of Dr. Mohamed Shabbir, Afifah Binti Sabri and Nik Sakinah binti Nik Ab Aziz from the faculty, 35 students who were from the Cyber Security and Forensic Computing programmes had the opportunity to visit IRIS and listen from practicing experts in the field of cyber security.

Overall, it was a great beyond the classroom learning experience for students who learnt about the functioning of various biometric devices and its applications as well as more in-depth knowledge of the cyber security working environment - many of them even expressed their interest to undergo their internship or start their career with IRIS! Kudos to the faculty for organizing the visit!

An Adventurous Excursion

Here comes another unforgettable experience, created by students from the UC2F1704 Intake of the BA (Hons) in Tourism Management programme, under the APU School of Marketing and Media (SOMM).

We are delighted to share with you that the students successfully conducted a tour to Skytrex, Shah Alam under the theme of “Adventure Tourism”. Skytrex, Shah Alam Adventure Park is an unusual high elements jungle canopy adventure park situated within the Shah Alam National Botanical Park. Altogether about nine students and a lecturer participated in this tour.

The main objective of this trip was to put into practice the overall tour management which includes pricing strategies, costing, marketing and organising a proper tour for the APU students. It definitely proved to be more effective than just learning through theory about tour arrangement.

Overall, it was a great experience and invaluable knowledge was gained from this adventure tour by the students. Moreover, the participants had a chance to self-experiment and test both their mental and physical strength, as well as confidence through challenges such climbing, walking, swinging and zipping as high as 22 metres from the ground.

Congratulations to the Tourism Management students in organizing an effective adventure tour!

Field Trip to Public Bank

Recently, the School of Management organised a field trip to Public Bank headquarters at Menara Public Bank, Jalan Ampang, Kuala Lumpur. A total of 40 students from International Business Management and Human Resources Management programmes have participated in the industrial visit by Mr Kantharow Apparavu, and Ms Mazuwin bte Haja Maideen. The objectives of this visit was to expose the students towards real-life applications within the industries, to gain a better overview of the operations in line with the theoretical knowledge obtained from classrooms.

Three Public Bank staff members briefed the students about three core areas in banking operations: Human Capital Management, Retail Financial Services and Banking Operations. The students were also given a tour of the frontline operations, and the Department of Treasury. The visit enabled the students to relate their theoretical knowledge to practical aspects, such as product development, marketing, communication flow and network, certification to key industry standards, and resolution of customer claims.

The visit was successfully concluded with a brief speech of appreciation given by our representative to acknowledge Public Bank efforts in the informative sessions, and their hospitality and guidance throughout the visit at Menara Public Bank.
