APU Postgraduate Open Day [Sat, 17th Aug 2019] - RSVP

The Postgraduate Open Day will provide participants with the opportunity to meet academic staff and students and discuss your study options, discover some of the ways to fund your studies and learn more about employability options with postgraduate study.

  • 11:00am to 12:00pm - Big Data: The Window to the Next Universe
    • The session will begin an euphoria with data science, followed by an exposition on persistent challenges in data science and the strategies undertaken to resolve them.  Then we will  illustrate how data visualization reveals actionable insights.  Finally, we exhibit common traits in successful data analyst and data scientist.

  • 12:00pm to 1:00pm - Graduate Employability 4.0
    • The session will begin with an overview of the changing labour market and the skills today’s graduate needs to compete, followed by a discussion of graduate work readiness and the ‘quadruple helix’.  The session will conclude with an agenda for tackling millennial employability.

  • 1:00pm to 2:00pm - Artificial Intelligence in Action
    • The session will begin with importance and significance of Artificial Intelligence in our daily lives.  Then we will illustrate some of AI applications in computer assisted disease diagnosis, auto-guided vehicles, video analytics for surveillance systems, global positioning system  and voice recognition. A comparison between machine learning and deep learning will be explained followed by research direction and challenges faced in the future of AI.
