APU Student Crowned Champion At Hari Profesion Teknikal Negara 2022

Kareem Hossam's success at HPTN 2022: A testament to balancing gaming and studies.

The Ministry of Public Works (JKR) in Malaysia recently organised the Hari Profesion Teknikal Negara (HPTN) 2022, a two-day event that took place on 21st and 22nd December 2022 at the Aras Plaza in Kuala Lumpur. The theme of the event was "Mengungguli Teknologi Melonjak Pembangunan" (Technology Excellence Boosts Development) and was launched by the Minister of Public Works, YB Dato Sri Alexander Nanta Linggi.

The event was enlivened by the FIFA eSport tournament, taking inspiration from the 2022 World Cup in Qatar. Among the participants, one stood out and emerged as the Champion of the event's FIFA eSport tournament, APU student Kareem Hossam Mohamed Seif Seada. Kareem beat 63 participants from various organisations across Malaysia in the knockout stage and walked away with a cash prize of RM1500.

For Kareem, this was his first experience in participating eSport tournament in Malaysia, but he had the confidence and discipline to beat other competitors nationwide. He shared that the key to his success was to focus on studies first and balance the time spent between gaming and studying. He believed that gamers are capable of studying and achieving goals in life, all you need is discipline.

The main objective of HPTN 2022 was to expose young people to the technical profession and to continue the legacy of the country's development, making Malaysia a viable and sustainable developing country in the era of the Industrial Revolution 4.0.

Minister of Public Works Malaysia, Datuk Seri Alexander Nanta Linggi stated that mastering technology is essential for the development and modernisation of a country, with youth being the key to leading the country in the future.

In addition to the FIFA eSport tournament, HPTN 2022 featured a variety of activities including a STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering and Mathematics) competition, celebrity talks by Dato Capt. Hj. Mohd Fauzi Aziz (Captain of Malaysia Airlines) and Professor Emeritus Tan Sri Dato’ Seri Dr. Mazlan Othman, a technical exhibition, a forum on "Riding the Wave of Industrial Revolution (IR 5.0)", an Engineer's run, and a Blood Donation campaign.

The event was a success and provided a platform for young people to learn more about the technical profession and its importance in driving the country's development. Kudos to the organisers and participants, who have helped to make Malaysia a viable and sustainably developing country in the era of Industrial Revolution 4.0.

A special shoutout to Ms. Sarah Hj. Musa and Ms. Hazlina Darman from School of Mathematics, Actuarial and Quantitative Studies (SoMAQS) for their initiative and efforts to bring our students to the national stage, and continuing the legacy of the country's development. Kareem Hossam's achievement at HPTN 2022 is an inspiration to other young Malaysians to pursue their passions while still focusing on their studies and career goals.
