"Protect Our Children, Secure Our Future" by APU Model United Nations

The APU Model United Nations (MUN) initiated the “Protect Our Children, Secure Their Future” campaign, which lasted for a week from 24th August (Sunday) to 28th August (Friday). The members of the society, led by Dr. Sarvinder, Ms. Abbhirami and Ms. Fadilah from School of Foundation (SoF), strived to raise awareness on the importance of preventing child abuse, violence and exploitation.

Throughout the week, workshops and talks which involved industry speakers were conducted. Topics covered include the issues of child refugees, human trafficking, and child exploitation and so on. Merchandises such as badges, bookmarks and traditional food were being sold at the sales booths that were manned by the MUN members as well, to raise funds for the United Nations High Commissioner for Refugees (UNHCR). Apart from the informative sessions listed above, students also had fun participating in the Country Trivia and the MUN Night, which was held on the 27th of August (Thursday).

About APU MUN

APU Model United Nations (MUN) was established on 15th January 2014 by students from the School of Foundation (SoF). We started off with 15 members and today they have around 60 members and still counting.

Model United Nations, also known as MUN is an academic simulation of the United Nations that aims to educate members about civics, effective communication, globalization and multilateral diplomacy. In Model United Nations, students take on roles as foreign diplomats and participate in. Members research a country, take on roles as diplomats, investigate international issues, debate, deliberate, consult, and then develop solutions to world problems.
