Asia Pacific University of Technology & Innovation’s (APU) School of General Studies (SoGS) organised Iftar on the Go 2026, where over 500 students raised RM7,000 and prepared 1,500 food packs for distribution at Terminal Bersepadu Selatan (TBS), Kuala Lumpur, supporting the community during Ramadan while strengthening students’ leadership, teamwork, and social responsibility.
On 12 March 2026, Asia Pacific University of Technology & Innovation’s (APU) School of General Studies (SoGS) successfully organised its annual Iftar on the Go initiative — an inspiring community outreach project dedicated to supporting the public during the holy month of Ramadan.
At its heart, the initiative sought to ease the burden of breaking fast by distributing food packs to those in need, ensuring that more individuals could observe iftar with comfort and dignity.
The project had been led by Advisor Ms Vicknisha Balu, alongside Head of SoGS, Mr Ragunathan Ayyavoo, and a committed team of lecturers including Mr Suresh S. Saminathan, Ms Munirah Salamat, Dr Nurul Farhanah Mohd Nasir, Ms Neeshanti Rhamaroo, and Ms Jun Nazlia Hilwa.

They worked closely with Project Manager Muhammad Muhaimin Abdul Manan, a representative from APU’s Angkatan Mahasiswa Anti-Rasuah (AMAR) Club, with the collective support of SoGS lecturers and the Secretariat Rukun Negara.
What made the initiative even more meaningful was the students’ remarkable contribution.
More than 500 co-curricular students from intakes APU2F2511 and UCDF2507 had actively raised funds through various activities, including food and beverage sales, e-games, and a mini carnival.
Their collective effort successfully raised approximately RM7,000, which was channelled towards the preparation of food packs.

On the day of the event, volunteers gathered at APU to prepare and pack the meals, which included fried noodles, desserts, and mineral water.
The process required careful coordination, efficient time management, and strong teamwork to ensure everything was completed within the allocated timeframe.
In total, 1,500 food packs were prepared; an impressive achievement that reflected the dedication and collaboration of the volunteers. Around 30 volunteers took part in the packing process, working tirelessly behind the scenes.
At approximately 6pm, SoGS lecturers and 40 student volunteers departed for Terminal Bersepadu Selatan (TBS), Kuala Lumpur, via APU buses.
The distribution process unfolded smoothly, with volunteers working hand in hand to ensure the food reached as many people as possible.
Reflecting on the initiative, Mr Ragunathan Ayyavoo shared that the project had made a meaningful impact, bringing comfort and appreciation to recipients during Ramadan.
He highlighted that it had also provided students with valuable hands-on experience in leadership, teamwork, and event management, while instilling important values such as empathy, responsibility, and community engagement.

Ms Vicknisha Balu highlighted that initiatives like Iftar on the Go played a vital role in shaping students beyond academic learning.
She emphasised that such activities encouraged students to become more socially responsible and actively contribute to society.
Project Manager Muhammad Muhaimin Abdul Manan agreed that the experience had allowed students to develop essential soft skills while making a tangible difference in the community.
“The project had demonstrated how leadership extended beyond planning and management. It was also about serving others and working together to create meaningful impact.”

For participants like international student S M Muammer Kashem Chan, the experience had been both eye-opening and rewarding.
He expressed that being part of the initiative had deepened his understanding of the importance of giving back, especially during Ramadan, adding that even small efforts could make a significant difference in someone’s day.
Aligned with the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals (UNSDGs) —particularly SDG 2 (Zero Hunger) and SDG 4 (Quality Education) — Iftar on the Go 2026 stood as a powerful example of how student-led initiatives could address real-world challenges while fostering compassion and awareness.
Ultimately, the success of the project reflected not only the dedication of the students, but also the strong support and guidance from the SoGS.
It served as a testament to the power of collective action in creating meaningful and lasting impact within the community.
