APU students, supported by ASIGWISE, achieved notable success at MJIC 2026, securing two Gold and four Silver awards for six innovative projects spanning AI, cybersecurity, healthcare, sustainability and social impact.

Students from the Asia Pacific University of Technology & Innovation (APU), supported by the APU Special Interest Group of Women in Security (ASIGWISE), achieved outstanding success at the Malaysia–Japan International Conference on Nanoscience, Nanotechnology, and Nanoengineering 2026 (MJIC 2026).
A total of six student-led projects were presented at the prestigious international platform, earning an impressive tally of two Gold and four Silver awards, reflecting both the strength and diversity of APU’s innovation ecosystem.
The award-winning team — Chye Yan Tong, Amelia Sow Jing Yi, Cheng Wei Quan, Desmond Chen Wei Fan, Nurumov Artur, Chua Shu En and Alan Ng Wai Lun —demonstrated exceptional capability across a wide range of domains, including artificial intelligence, cybersecurity, healthcare, sustainability and social impact.
Their multidisciplinary approach showcased how emerging technologies could be effectively applied to address pressing real-world challenges.
Among the highlights were two Gold Award-winning projects: Enhancing Women’s Safety in Public Spaces through AI and Technology-Driven Solutions and Developing an AI-Resilient Multi-Modal Biometric Authentication Framework to Combat Identity Fraud.
In addition, four innovative projects were recognised with Silver Awards, covering areas such as blockchain-enabled solutions for flood relief, AI-powered personalised healthcare, gamified sustainability platforms, and integrated medical systems for treatment tracking and cost transparency.
These achievements were made possible through the strong mentorship and guidance provided by ASIGWISE’s Founder, Assistant Professor Ts Dr Vinesha Selvarajah, and Advisor, Ms Zaireeda Mohd Fauzee, alongside academic members Ms Zety Marlia Zainal Abidin and Ms Chong Mien May.
Further support was extended by academic staff from the School of Technology (SoT) and the School of Computing (SoC), including Assistant Professor Ms Nor Azlina Abd Rahman and Ms Aziah Abdollah.
This remarkable accomplishment underscored ASIGWISE’s continued commitment to nurturing innovation, fostering interdisciplinary collaboration, and equipping students with industry-relevant skills, while reinforcing APU’s presence on the international stage.
