APU And Jeonju University From Korea Join Hands To Boost Digital Innovations

Tapping into the robustness of digital innovation portrayed by the Republic of Korea, the Asia Pacific University of Technology & Innovation (APU) recently formalised its working relationship with Korea’s Jeonju University (JJU) through a Memorandum of Understanding.

The MoU was signed by APU Vice Chancellor, Professor Dr Ho Chin Kuan; and JJU’s Department of Industrial Design Professor Song Joo, during a ceremony held on 15 May at APU’s campus situated in Mranti Park, Bukit Jalil, Kuala Lumpur.

The collaboration of both parties will be mainly focus on industrial design teaching and learning capacity building at the School of Media, Arts and Design (SoMAD), as well as accelerate the innovation of drone applications at the Centre of Research and Development of IoT (CREDIT), APU.

With working ties officially established, JJU as a university well-known for various digital innovations in supporting Korean agriculture and cultural representation, will conduct cultural and drone sports programmes to nurture APU talents who are interested in these domains.

“We have been picked by JJU for our strength in technology education as a Premier Digital Tech Institution, and also well known for the competency of our academic team and talents on campus in delivering the educational output with 100% employability of the graduates,” said Professor Dr. Vinesh Thiruchelvam, APU Chief Innovation & Enterprise Officer.

According to Prof. Vinesh, for the upcoming plan, both parties will start working on ideation or solution to bring Korean culture and heritage into APU, typically for its digital platform to crystalise new-wave industrial designs.

“In this way, our students at APU will have access to Korean experts' mentoring sessions to further develop their industrial design skills, and the creativity of digital solutions,” added Prof. Vinesh. The ceremony was also attended by JJU Professor Dr. Seo Kyu Won; Head of SoMAD APU, Ms. Debbie Liew Pooi Kuan; academic staff from SoMAD, and administrative staff from APU.
