Through APU’s Entrepreneur-in-Residence initiative, SoAF students gained practical insights from BossBoleh COO Ms Angie Ng on company registration, business structures, tax planning and compliance for confident startup readiness in Malaysia.
A successful entrepreneur stepped into the campus of Asia Pacific University of Technology & Innovation (APU) to share real-world business insights with aspiring student entrepreneurs, offering them a valuable opportunity to learn directly from an industry practitioner.
The sharing session, organised by APU’s School of Accounting and Finance (SoAF) on 22 June 2026, featured Ms Angie Ng, Chief Operating Officer of BossBoleh, a digital cloud company secretary platform in Malaysia. Ms Ng is an award-winning entrepreneur who has been named Founder of the Year at the ASEAN Startup Award.
Held on APU’s campus, the one-hour session introduced students to the practical aspects of starting and managing a company in Malaysia. Attendees from SoAF gained insights into the different business structures available in the country, and how each structure may affect taxation, liability, compliance, governance and day-to-day business operations.
The session brought real-world business execution into the classroom by helping students understand the steps involved in registering a startup, while also covering essential corporate concepts such as tax planning, audit exemptions and regulatory requirements. Through this exposure, students were able to connect academic learning with practical business decision-making, especially in areas that are important for aspiring entrepreneurs.
BossBoleh, the platform represented by Ms Ng, simplifies business incorporation and corporate compliance by enabling entrepreneurs to register an Sdn Bhd company, digitally sign documents and manage company secretary tasks entirely online, without the need to visit physical offices. The platform has gained recognition for making business registration more accessible to both locals and foreigners who wish to establish companies in Malaysia.
The company was also named a winner of MyHackathon, organised by Cradle Fund, and was recognised by Malaysia Digital Economy Corporation (MDEC) as a Notable Malaysia Digital Tech Use Case for its ability to support online company formation and registration in Malaysia.
“At APU, we are committed to bridging the gap between academic learning and real-world business practice by equipping students with practical knowledge and industry-relevant skills. Through initiatives such as this, students gain valuable insights into key aspects of business operations, including corporate structures, audit exemptions, tax planning, and regulatory requirements,” said Professor Dr Chong Lee Lee, Head of SoAF.
“By exposing our students to digital solutions that simplify business registration and management, we empower aspiring entrepreneurs to confidently transform their ideas into viable ventures and contribute meaningfully to the business ecosystem,” remarked Prof Chong.
The session reflected APU’s ongoing effort to enhance students’ learning journey through meaningful industry engagement and practical knowledge sharing. By bringing entrepreneurs and digital business solution providers into campus learning spaces, students are given the opportunity to understand how business concepts are applied in real situations.
For aspiring student entrepreneurs, the session provided both inspiration and practical know-how to take their first steps towards building a business. With a clearer understanding of company formation, compliance requirements and available digital tools, students were empowered to approach their entrepreneurial journey with greater confidence and readiness.
Through initiatives such as this, APU continues to strengthen the relevance of its academic learning by connecting students with industry practitioners, encouraging innovation, and nurturing future-ready graduates who are prepared to participate meaningfully in Malaysia’s evolving business ecosystem.
