Currently, we have approximately 280 Bangladeshi students who are pursuing various programmes at different  levels with us including Certificate-level programmes, Diplomas, Bachelor Degrees, Masters programmes and even PhD programmes. Community of Bangladeshi Students @ Asia Pacific University

APU has its own Bangladeshi Community which is known as Community of Bangladeshi Students in APU (C.B.S.) consisting of more than 280 Bangladeshi students. The community is for the Bangladeshis, of the Bangladeshis and by the Bangladeshis. The prime purpose of having the community is to ensure that the Bangladeshi students 'feel home away from home'. Additionally, the community set up its main goal to represent Bangladesh with respect and dignity in front of all the 110 countries’ APU students as well as all over Malaysia.

Among the major activities of C.B.S., organizing the celebration of the Bengali New Year/ Boishakhi @ APU is to be mentioned. C.B.S. also merges with other communities & societies in APU to organize multicultural events. C.B.S. members have been performing consistently for the last 4 years in Bangladeshi Cultural Night organized by University of Malaya where C.B.S. members dance performance was praised by all. With a view to celebrating different religious festivals i.e. Eid / Raya, Fasting/ Puasa and cultural events and national days i.e. International Mother Language Day, Independence Day etc very often get-togethers are organized by C.B.S members.

As far as recreational activities are concerned, the community members very frequently participate in Cricket, Futsal, Football, Badminton tournament etc to defend the country colors. As the consequences, C.B.S. team Bangladeshi Tigers has become the champion of APU Cricket Tournament 2016 and all the members still working hard to earn more respect and name for Bangladesh.

What do our Bangladeshi alumnis say about Asia Pacific University (APU)?

I still remember the day I put my first step on those stairs of A.P.U, TPM building with my brother to get my admission into Foundation in the year 2010. I was shaky, nervous and totally intimidated by the sight of everybody around me dressed like business tycoons. Little did I know that the stairs I was climbing will only take me higher and I’ll never have to look down from there. A.P.U had been a journey that changed my life for good in every aspect - from my career perspective to my personality. Through tutorials and assignments with incredibly supportive classmates from a diverse culture, added with the latest technologies and professors who were nothing short of champions, I was challenged to discover a part of me I didn’t know I had. That part now plays a central role in my work, as a Content Developer and News Presenter in Channel 8 News Bangladesh, a business alliance of a multinational company Digital Media Express, that also happens to be a Google partner. It is vital to think critically, to plan, to imagine, to communicate, and to engage with foreign clients and journalists - all of which, my years in A.P.U has embedded deep within me. Having been shaped by A.P.U in a creative, fun, yet rigorous, environment, I found myself able to communicate, innovate, and collaborate in ways that enabled me to build a successful career in Digital Media Express.

Reflecting upon my four years, i.e. Foundation plus my Dual Degrees in BA (Hons) International Business Management, I conclude that the four years at A.P.U were undoubtedly among the best years of my life - so much so that, A.P.U members now feel like family I’ve left behind and Malaysia feel more like home to me than my own country.
