On 25 May 2023, a group of 36 bachelor's and master’s degree students from Asia Pacific University of Technology & Innovation (APU)’s School of Accounting & Finance, accompanied by two lecturers, Ms. Phuah Eng Sze, and Mr. Suresh Balasingam, conducted an industrial visit to PricewaterhouseCoopers (PwC) office at 1 Sentral, Kuala Lumpur.

PwC is an international professional services firm that offers business advisory services such as auditing, accounting, taxation, strategy management, and human resource consulting services. It is one of the Big Four accounting firms in the world. PwC Malaysia employs more than 3,000 people in seven locations, which include, Kuala Lumpur, Pulau Pinang, Ipoh, Melaka, Johor Bahru, Labuan and Kuching.

The trip aimed to introduce the students to PwC Malaysia and expose them to opportunities for growth with the firm. It also enables students to gain insights about working in the accounting and auditing industry. In addition, it is to provide students with an opportunity to get the recruiters’ point of view on internships, resume tips and many more.

Mr. Kent Tan, the manager, and his team from the Human Capital of PwC welcomed the team and introduced PwC Malaysia. They explained their work culture, the benefits and flexibility options, as well as the graduate programmes, and the career opportunities available at PwC Malaysia.

There was also a sharing session by one of the PwC representatives, Ms. Tan Hui Yee, an APU alumna currently working in PwC as Audit Senior, specialising in the financial services sector. The sharing of her knowledge and experience truly inspired our students. The visit allowed the students to mingle and network with the alumni and the recruiters who helped them better understand their potential future careers.

The field trip ended with an office tour where students took the opportunity to take their pictures happily for memories.

In summary, the students had an amazing time and gained invaluable experience at PwC Malaysia’s office. It was great connecting with recruiters to have engaging discussions and insight about the firm and career opportunities. The students were impressed by their professionalism and commitment to their client service.
