APU Student Soo Ching Hao Secures First Place at National and APJC Levels of Cisco Netriders Competition 2023


APU is thrilled to announce that its Cyber Security student, Soo Ching Hao, secured first place at both the national and Asia Pacific, Japan, and China (APJC) levels in the recently concluded APJC Cisco NetRiders Competition 2023.

Cisco, a global technology leader, supports the Networking Academy, a worldwide IT and cybersecurity education initiative in collaboration with learning institutions.

The APJC NetAcad Riders competition is an interactive networking skills contest that enhances classroom learning, unites students from across the region, and promotes further technology education and training.

Organised by Cisco, the competitions are a great opportunity for Networking Academy students to learn valuable Networking/IT skills through a series of online exams and simulation activities using Cisco Packet Tracer.

Ching Hao was announced as the top performer during a distinguished event recognising outstanding individuals from various institutions.


At the ceremony, Cisco extends its gratitude to the dedicated lecturers at APU whose pivotal role played a crucial part in the success of organising the APJC Cisco NetRiders Competition 2023.

The ceremony, graced by APU Vice-Chancellor Professor Dr. Ho Chin Kuan and Cisco Country Manager Puan Hana Haja, not only spotlights individual excellence but also underscores the global impact of the competition, boasting participation from 956 contestants across 16 countries.

Taking place at the APU campus at MRANTI Park, Bukit Jalil, the award ceremony served as a nexus for networking and knowledge exchange among students, instructors, and industry experts.

In addition to celebrating the student's achievements, the organiser extends its gratitude to the dedicated lecturers whose pivotal role played a crucial part in their success.

Special acknowledgements were made during the ceremony to commend the efforts of Mr. Yogeswaran, Ms. Noris, Ms. Zaireeda, Ms. Nurul, Mr. Joshua, Mr. David, Ms. Nor Azlina, Mr. Shahab, and Dr. Kamalakannan, with the support of the Senior Head of the School of Technology, Associate Professor Dr. Thang Ka Fei.

Their contributions have been instrumental in nurturing the talents of the students and preparing them for the challenges of the competition. This event, therefore, stands as a dual celebration – recognizing student excellence and honouring the collaborative efforts and commitment of the academic staff in shaping future professionals in the field of IT and networking.
